Exil\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis o\u00f9 il occupa longtemps &#8211;<em>1952-1976<\/em>&#8211; la t\u00eate de l&rsquo;orchestre de Pittsburgh, il contribua \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un solide et assez cons\u00e9quent catalogue d&rsquo;enregistrements pour les firmes Capitol &#8211;<em>filiale am\u00e9ricaine d&rsquo;EMI<\/em>&#8211; puis Command Classics.
