D&rsquo;une mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, hors son triptyque de ballets &#8211;<em>L&rsquo;oiseau de feu ; Petrouchka ; Le sacre du printemps<\/em>&#8211; je n&rsquo;aime gu\u00e8re les oeuvres de Stravinsky, et ne les \u00e9coute quasiment jamais. Ce po\u00e8me symphonique n&rsquo;\u00e9chappe pas \u00e0 cette r\u00e8gle, bien qu&rsquo;il soit plut\u00f4t meilleur que l&rsquo;absence de souvenir que j&rsquo;en avais gard\u00e9 ! Tr\u00e8s belle prise de son de 1958, comme la tr\u00e8s grande majorit\u00e9 de celles enregistr\u00e9es par RCA \u00e0 Chicago, lorsque le tyrannique Fritz Reiner r\u00e9gnait d&rsquo;une main de fer sur l&rsquo;orchestre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u2022 Piotr Illitch Tcha\u00efkovsky<\/strong> &#8211; Symphonie \u00ab\u00a0Manfred\u00a0\u00bb &#8211; 1885<br \/>\nOrchestre national de l&rsquo;ORTF, Constantin Silvestri &#8211; 1958 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>****<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n&#8211;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>Extrait du coffret anthologique de 15 CD \u00ab\u00a0Constantin Silvestri, le chef l\u00e9gendaire\u00a0\u00bb, EMI Coll. Icon, 2013<\/em><\/span>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette symphonie non num\u00e9rot\u00e9e par Tcha\u00efkovsky &#8211;<em>parce qu\u2019il envisageait \u00e9ventuellement de la retoucher assez largement pour en faire un po\u00e8me symphonique<\/em>&#8211; et inspir\u00e9e par un le po\u00e8me \u00e9ponyme de Lord Byron a \u00e9t\u00e9 compos\u00e9e entre ses quatri\u00e8me et cinqui\u00e8me symphonies. L\u2019oeuvre, d&rsquo;une dur\u00e9e approximative d&rsquo;une heure, connut un succ\u00e8s certain lors de sa cr\u00e9ation, mais Tcha\u00efkovsky n\u2019en \u00e9tait pas satisfait, \u00e9crivant notamment : <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\">\u00ab Sans vouloir me montrer plus modeste que je ne le suis, je peux dire que cette production est abominable et que je la hais profond\u00e9ment, \u00e0 l\u2019exception du premier mouvement. Ainsi, si j\u2019avais l\u2019accord de l&rsquo;\u00e9diteur, je d\u00e9truirai les trois autres mouvements, absolument insignifiants sur le plan musical (le final est mortel) et \u00e0 partir de cette symphonie lourdement dessin\u00e9e, je cr\u00e9erais un po\u00e8me symphonique \u00bb<\/span><\/strong><\/span>.<br \/>\nLa version de Constantin Silvestri, chef roumain d&rsquo;une rigueur maniaque qui r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 tirer le meilleur d&rsquo;un orchestre qui n&rsquo;avait sans doute jamais si bien sonn\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, est une belle r\u00e9ussite, bien enregistr\u00e9e pour l&rsquo;\u00e9poque.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u2022 Prokofiev<\/strong> &#8211; Lieutenant Kij\u00e9, suite &#8211; 1933 \u2022 Suite Scythe &#8211; 1915<br \/>\nOrchestre symphonique de Chicago, Claudio Abbado &#8211; 1978 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>****<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n&#8211;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>Extrait du coffret anthologique de 8 CD \u00ab\u00a0Abbado &#8211; Chicago Symphony Orchestra\u00a0\u00bb &#8211; DGG, 2017<\/em><\/span>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La suite \u00ab\u00a0Lieutenant Kij\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb est constitu\u00e9e de 5 parties, adapt\u00e9es de la musique que Prokofiev composa pour le film \u00ab\u00a0Lieutenant Kij\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb : Naissance de Kij\u00e9, Romance &#8211;<em>cf. extrait (<span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\">tir\u00e9 de la version de Seiji Ozawa, je n&rsquo;ai pas num\u00e9ris\u00e9 le disque Abbado \u00e0 cette heure)<\/span><\/em>-, Mariage, Tro\u00efka, Enterrement de Kij\u00e9. L&rsquo;oeuvre, tr\u00e8s populaire en Russie, est notamment c\u00e9l\u00e8bre depuis les ann\u00e9es 80 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la chanson de Sting \u00ab\u00a0Russians\u00a0\u00bb, qui reprend la m\u00e9lodie de la Romance. La suite Scythe, compos\u00e9e en 1915, est tir\u00e9e du ballet Ala et Lolly. Oeuvre de commande pour les Ballets Russes de Diaghilev, celui-ci la refusa finalement. Elle s&rsquo;inscrit dans une perpective tr\u00e8s motoris\u00e9e, \u00e0 l&rsquo;instar de certains des concertos pour piano du compositeur.<br \/>\nAu d\u00e9but de sa carri\u00e8re, Claudio Abbado semble avoir beaucoup appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 certaines oeuvres de Prokofiev, qu&rsquo;il a enregistr\u00e9es avec Londres ou Chicago.
