Il s&rsquo;agit de la retranscription d&rsquo;un texte manuscrit et joliment illustr\u00e9 par l&rsquo;auteur. Celui-ci en livre un r\u00e9cit brut, \u00a0assez bien \u00e9crit et construit, dans un style relativement plaisant. A l&rsquo;\u00e9poque de l&rsquo;\u00e9criture de ce petit livret, le d\u00e9bat, en m\u00e9tropole, \u00e9tait engag\u00e9 quant au maintien d&rsquo;un d\u00e9portation vers le bagne dans \u00ab\u00a0les colonies\u00a0\u00bb. N\u00e9anmoins, le texte passa quasi-inaper\u00e7u dans ce contexte, d&rsquo;autres plumes bien plus prestigieuses ayant pris part au d\u00e9bat -et notamment le journaliste Albert LONDRES-.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L&rsquo;auteur, pour ce qu&rsquo;on en sait &#8211;<em>c&rsquo;est \u00e0 dire pas grand-chose, et un moteur de recherche ne vous en apprendra gu\u00e8re plus<\/em>&#8211; \u00e9tait dessinateur, et employ\u00e9 initialement comme g\u00e9ographe militaire. Il fut pour un temps membre de \u00ab\u00a0la p\u00e9nitentiaire\u00a0\u00bb &#8211;<em>et, visiblement, semble bien mieux instruit que les surveillants \u00ab\u00a0garde-chiourme qu&rsquo;il d\u00e9peint<\/em>-, d&rsquo;o\u00f9 il fut assez rapidement renvoy\u00e9 pour cause de maladie officiellement, d&rsquo;esprit plut\u00f4t rebelle officieusement.
