Rajoutons donc l\u2019anecdote suivante \u00e0 ce modeste floril\u00e8ge, qui met en sc\u00e8ne deux immenses artistes ayant effectu\u00e9 une grand partie de leur carri\u00e8re aux Etats-Unis : <strong>Fritz REINER<\/strong>, chef d\u2019orchestre, et <strong>Arthur RUBINSTEIN<\/strong>, pianiste mondialement renomm\u00e9 et quasi-unanimement lou\u00e9, pour ses interpr\u00e9tations de Chopin en particulier.<br \/>\nREINER faisait partie de la race des tyrans, terrorisant les musiciens des orchestres o\u00f9 il officia et ne supportant aucune contradiction : un Toscanini en pire &#8211;<em>ce qui n&rsquo;est pas peu dire !<\/em> &#8211; Certes ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nal de pr\u00e9cision et de clart\u00e9, mais peu enclin \u00e0 la moindre concession. Hongrois exil\u00e9 aux Etats-Unis, il commen\u00e7a sa carri\u00e8re am\u00e9ricaine \u00e0 Cincinnati, avant de prendre la t\u00eate de l\u2019orchestre de Pittsburgh, o\u00f9 il renvoya plus de 90% &#8211;<em>vous avez bien lu\u2026<\/em>&#8211; des musiciens de l\u2019orchestre en moins de trois ans. Six ans apr\u00e8s son arriv\u00e9e, il ne restait que deux musiciens de l\u2019orchestre initial ! Son d\u00e9part, au bout de dix ans, fut v\u00e9cu donc comme un soulagement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ARubinstein.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2404\" src=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ARubinstein.jpeg\" alt=\"ARubinstein\" width=\"350\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ARubinstein.jpeg 540w, https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ARubinstein-300x167.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a>REINER partit en effet pour Chicago, o\u00f9 son intransigeance permit de b\u00e2tir ce qui devint, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, le meilleur orchestre am\u00e9ricain. Durant les dix ans de son mandat \u00e0 Chicago, REINER enregistra beaucoup, pour RCA : ses disques firent les beaux jours des m\u00e9lomanes am\u00e9ricains, puis europ\u00e9ens lorsqu\u2019ils furent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement import\u00e9s vers nos contr\u00e9es. Ils restent encorne largement r\u00e9\u00e9dit\u00e9s de nos jours &#8211;<em>excellente anthologie Richard Strauss \u00e0 tout petit prix, tr\u00e8s bonnes symphonies de Beethoven dans une optique \u00abobjective\u00bb, concerti de Tcha\u00efkovsky et Brahms avec Gilels\u2026<\/em>-, et sont de tr\u00e8s bons t\u00e9moignages de son art et de la qualit\u00e9 ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nale atteinte par son orchestre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Rach2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2408\" src=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Rach2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rach2\" width=\"250\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Rach2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Rach2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Rach2.jpg 504w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Le 1er septembre\u00a01956, REINER enregistra pour RCA le tr\u00e8s fameux concerto pur piano n\u00b02 de Rachmaninoff, le soliste \u00e9tant le tr\u00e8s c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Arthur RUBINSTEIN. A cette \u00e9poque, c\u2019\u00e9tait, avec HOROWITZ, le pianiste le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre de son temps, et, d\u00e9j\u00e0, une forme de l\u00e9gende vivante, r\u00e9put\u00e9 pour la beaut\u00e9 de sa sonorit\u00e9 et sa \u00abmusicalit\u00e9\u00bb plus que pour son exactitude technique -avant 60 ans, il travailla peu la technique pour elle-m\u00eame-.<br \/>\nLes musiciens avaient enregistr\u00e9 toute la journ\u00e9e au cours d\u2019une tr\u00e8s longue s\u00e9ance, et, la soir\u00e9e approchant, tout semblait en bo\u00eete, lorsqu\u2019un corniste\u00a0demanda au chef de pouvoir r\u00e9enregistrer un passage qu\u2019il pensait pouvoir am\u00e9liorer encore. RUBINSTEIN en profita alors pour demander \u00e0 corriger lui aussi quelques passages de piano. REINER lui r\u00e9pondit alors : \u00ab<strong><em>Mon orchestre ne se trompe jamais.
