Ces oeuvres sont rarement jou\u00e9es et ont presque disparu du grand r\u00e9pertoire : <strong>la premi\u00e8re symphonie<\/strong> est une production estudiantine encore tr\u00e8s marqu\u00e9e par son \u00e9poque et vaguement atonale, o\u00f9 l\u2019on sent plus les influences contemporaines de ses ma\u00eetres -dont Busoni- que la personnalit\u00e9 en devenir du compositeur. Elle connut uj succ\u00e8s d\u2019estime et Zemlinsky l\u2019appr\u00e9ciait beaucoup, par exemple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>La seconde symphonie<\/strong> s\u2019inscrit dans une veine plus m\u00e9lodique et constitue en quelque sorte une synth\u00e8se du m\u00e9tier acquis dans la composition d\u2019op\u00e9ras, suite \u00e0 sa rencontre\u00a0avec Bertold Brecht. Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement est tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able aux oreilles, notamment. Son concerto pour violon et orchestre \u00e0 vent me semble moins int\u00e9ressant, et cela fait tr\u00e8s longtemps qu\u2019il est sorti de mes oreilles, je ne dois pas l\u2019avoir \u00e9cout\u00e9 dix fois\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">J\u2019ai donc choisi ce disque, agr\u00e9ment\u00e9\u00a0d&rsquo;une fort belle prise de son, &#8211;<em>cliquer sur l\u2019image pour la voir en plus grand<\/em>-, qui, outre les deux symphonies sus-cit\u00e9es, comporte <strong>une r\u00e9duction pour orchestre \u00e0 vents de \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019Op\u00e9ra de Quat\u2019Sous\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, son oeuvre la plus populaire et qui a fort bien r\u00e9sist\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019usure du temps. Une vraie r\u00e9ussite, o\u00f9 il s&rsquo;approprie les nouvelles formes en provenance de la musique populaire des Etats-Unis, et que vous pourrez entendre en petit extrait ci-dessous.
