Sa lecture, en 2019, est assez int\u00e9ressante : ayant acc\u00e8s aux archives de la revue \u00ab\u00a0Gramophone\u00a0\u00bb depuis la parution de son premier num\u00e9ro, en 1923, j&rsquo;avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 eu l&rsquo;occasion d&rsquo;entrevoir que la critique musicale est parfois tributaire des \u00ab\u00a0go\u00fbts nationaux\u00a0\u00bb &#8211;<em>c&rsquo;est moins vrai lorsqu&rsquo;on lit les revues allemandes, par exemple, mais en lien peut-\u00eatre avec le plus grand nombre de compositeurs et d&rsquo;interpr\u00e8tes austro-allemands dans le r\u00e9pertoire classique courant<\/em>-.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quoi qu&rsquo;il en soit, il me semble que les critiques musicaux fran\u00e7ais \u00e9taient encore plus chauvins que leurs homologues \u00e9trangers, que ce soit en mati\u00e8re de compositeurs ou d&rsquo;interpr\u00e8tes. La fameuse \u00ab\u00a0clart\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise\u00a0\u00bb, le go\u00fbt pour une approche \u00ab\u00a0rationnelle\u00a0\u00bb sont, ici, exacerb\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re particuli\u00e8rement subjective, et je m&rsquo;\u00e9tonne que de si r\u00e9put\u00e9s \u00ab\u00a0musicologues\u00a0\u00bb aient, pu, parfois, se montrer si chauvins, si dogmatiques et, finalement, si peu clairvoyants !<br \/>\nCertes, on se situe presqu&rsquo;encore au sortir de la guerre, mais il me semblait que l&rsquo;art n&rsquo;avait pas trop de fronti\u00e8res\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un petit extrait, consacr\u00e9 aux symphonies de Mahler, vous donnera une id\u00e9e de la chose : <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Ces neuf symphonies sont lourdes, interminables et <i>kolossales<\/i>, entassant d&rsquo;instrumentaux P\u00e9lion sur des Ossa de choeurs \u00e0 dix parties, comme dans la VIII\u00e8me, qu&rsquo;on appelle <i>Des Mille<\/i>, parce qu&rsquo;elle exigerait, \u00e0 dire d&rsquo;experts, mille ex\u00e9cutants ou mille heures de r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, sinon l&rsquo;un et l&rsquo;autre. [\u2026]\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><br \/>\nA propos de sa quatri\u00e8me symphonie, la seule jug\u00e9e digne d&rsquo;\u00eatre entendue, on peut lire : <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Evidemment, comme \u00e7a se dit sans \u00e9l\u00e9gance, il a ici \u00e0 boire et \u00e0 manger -disons m\u00eame \u00e0 b\u00e2frer et \u00e0\u00a0pitancher , cette prog\u00e9niture \u00e9tant \u00e9videmment de nature pantagru\u00e9lique\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dans ce livre, Bruckner rel\u00e8ve \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s du m\u00eame traitement, et Bartok ne ferait <strong>\u00ab\u00a0se p\u00e2mer que les snobs pr\u00e9tentieux\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>\u2026 En revanche, la Marche Hongroise\u00a0\u00bb de Berlioz est une <strong>\u00ab\u00a0oeuvre somptueuse\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> et le \u00ab\u00a0Requiem\u00a0\u00bb de Faur\u00e9 est un symbole <strong>\u00ab\u00a0de la grandeur \u00e0 la fran\u00e7aise\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Elecrophone032019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8505\" src=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Elecrophone032019.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Elecrophone032019.jpg 810w, https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Elecrophone032019-300x117.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latelierdediablotin.fr\/WordPress3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Elecrophone032019-768x299.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;interpr\u00e8tations, le constat est encore plus cocasse, et des disques qui ont pass\u00e9 l&rsquo;\u00e9preuve du temps et sont aujourd&rsquo;hui regard\u00e9s comme des enregistrements \u00ab\u00a0de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence\u00a0\u00bb, y compris en France, font l&rsquo;objet de critiques, par des grand noms de la presse musicale fran\u00e7aise de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, dont le chauvinisme le dispute \u00e0 la mauvaise foi. En revanche, parmi les disques recommand\u00e9s, souvent par des interpr\u00e8tes fran\u00e7ais aujourd&rsquo;hui oubli\u00e9s, m\u00eame par les connaisseurs, tr\u00e8s peu sont pass\u00e9s \u00e0 la post\u00e9rit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L&rsquo;autre singularit\u00e9, c&rsquo;est la faiblesse du nombre de disques parus en France, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, au regard des catalogues autrement plus volumineux en Allemagne ou en Angleterre.
